School History & Overview

Built in 1960, La Mirada High School, one of the three comprehensive high schools in the Norwalk- La Mirada Unified School District, is now home to more than 2,270 students. In order to better meet the needs of La Mirada's students, La Mirada High School merged with Neff High School in 1980, making it the only high school in the city of La Mirada. The school boasts a beautiful campus, surrounded by the city''s Regional Park and the La Mirada Golf Club. Utilizing funding from a community-supported initiative, Measure S, the school started reconstruction and renovations in October 2004 which were completed in 2006.

There are 167 staff members at LMHS, with 96 certified staff members and 67 classified staff members. 52% of the teachers have master's degrees in the areas in which they teach, or in areas related to education. The school has a strong counseling department of six counselors. The school is operated under the Shared Decision Making Model.
